Excerpts from : Memoirs "My Life As A Guitar Slinger"

 707 mis-mangement years:

This is just an honest account of what happened and how it  had a tremendous effect on the band.
We had a few different managers right  up to the final days. The only one that actually got anything done was Fred Ruppert he at least got the band our record deal at Casablanca. We ended up with The Warrens (a husband and wife team) they were not artist managers they were fucking drug dealers , but we were young  and naive. They were very good at manipulating us young guys for sure as they were older by 10-20 years. They fed Phil and I plenty of coke all through the recordings and tours.Jim and Tod did not partake n the use of cocaine. The Warrens were especially keeping me supplied with coke so they could continue to manipulate me while ultimately destroying 707.They put the band in total ruins in every way possible! They successfully turned me against my pals. That was a hurt that took years to come to grips with.
I was snow blind and my ego was constantly being stroked by The Warrens with total bullshit! I had a family to support and I was so desperate to try and earn a living in the music business.
Yes I am resentful towards them (the husband passed away a few years ago). I have not spoken to the widow in many many years and have no intention of doing so. I do not have any fond memories of the time that The Warrens were in control of 707.
My fondest memories are of the days when we were playing Hollywood / LA circuit and gaining a big following prior to getting signed. That was the best days for 707 inspite of the arenas, theaters, clubs and festivals that we would end up doing.

Yes we had our inner struggles as a young band and as young men just trying so hard to be understood and heard.
I can not stress enough how crucial great management is to any band! It wil make or break You period!
